Our municipality surrounds
Roblin, the
"Jewel of the Parkland". It's a bustling community of about 1800 people that offers all the
services anyone could want. You can check out their newly renovated website at www.roblinmanitoba.com.
We partner with the town on many projects and programs, such as the Recreation
Commission, the Roblin District Library, the Fire Department, etc.
After hearing about our great town and all the activities offered in our area,
I'm sure you're thinking that life in the country just might be what you're
looking for. If you think our safe, friendly, community might be the place for you, check out some of the
real estate available at www.jbbroblin.com.
Ricker's Campground has been a family owned and operated business in our area
for over 30 years. On May 1, 2006 Wayne and Sylvia Ricker finally
decided to retire. Keeping this a family run business, Clifford, Trudy, Clifton
and Shona Herman became the new owners of Rickers Campground. They've got a
great website, with lots of fish stories as well as a blog on all the happenings
at the campground. Just go to www.rickerscampground.com
to find all they have to offer.
Are
you a fisherman? If so then you'll want to know about FLIPPR (Fish & Lake
Improvement Program for the Parkland). Their web site is www.flippr.ca.
We are proud to have Twin Lakes, one of their tiger trout stocked lakes, in our
municipality. To get to Twin Lakes drive North of Roblin on Hwy 83, past the San
Clara turn off (PR #367). Hwy 83 will begin to head West (left) in approximately
5-7 miles; turn right onto the the gravel road, heading North. The Twin
Lakes sign and entrance are on the left.
Our community is very excited to be hosting the 2010 National Fly Fishing Championships
from May 24 to May 25. The team gold medal is the highest sought award for
competitors. Sixty five of the Canada's elite Fly Fishers will also compete for
the coveted Gold Medal or "Top Rod" during this prestigious event and
a position on Canada's team to the Worlds 2010 Competition in Poland. Silver and
Bronze medals will also be awarded to both teams and individuals for second and
third placings.
If you're interested in finding out more about this event, or about volunteering
to help out, please contact the Executive Director, Kelly Keast. His cell phone
