RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF SHELL RIVER

 

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS

 

The temporary burning ban has been lifted; however, please be aware that if conditions change, and we again experience extreme dryness or high winds, the ban may be reinstated.

The regulations are:

1.      THAT any person that sets out a fire shall keep the fire under control at all times so as not to
       endanger forests or property.

2.      THAT no fire shall be set and left unattended.

3.      THAT no fire shall be set when fire conditions are extreme or hazardous.

4.      THAT any person that sets out a fire shall bear responsibility for all property damages which           may result.

5.      THAT any person that sets out a fire shall fireguard that area as required under the terms of
       the Fires Prevention Act.

6.      THAT any person who contravenes, or neglects, omits, fails, or refuses, to observe any
       provision of this Act is guilty of an offence and is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine set    
       out in the Fires Prevention Act and in default of payment thereof to imprisonment for a term
       as stated in this Act.

PLEASE NOTE: Anyone that intends to burn grass, stubble, scrub, etc. requires a burning permit from the RM of Shell River. There is no charge for the permit.
